We’re certified “Cat Friendly” by the American Association of Feline Practitioners
April 9, 2019
Saint Francis Veterinary Center is designated as a certified “Cat Friendly” practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners, which is the only organization offering such certification in North America.
A designated “Cat Friendly Practice®” has taken specific extra steps to assure they understand a cat’s unique needs and to implement feline-friendly standards with special emphasis on maintaining a feline-friendly environment with a staff that is knowledgeable in cat health and behavior needs.
Cat Friendly Practice team members are trained in feline-friendly handling which makes a tremendous difference in decreasing the stress and fear during veterinary visits. Particular focus is required in cat-friendly attitude, educated staff, gentle handling and feline-specific advocacy.
All Cat Friendly Practices must meet certain physical requirements to receive the designation, including feline-friendly waiting areas, cat comfort throughout the hospital, special hospitalization techniques and scent sensitivity.
All Cat Friendly Practices provide comprehensive feline health services without rushing in order to keep your cat calm throughout the visit. Cat Friendly hospitals have equipment and facilities specifically suitable for cats, including pain management, operating and anesthesia, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, lab facilities and more.
